The Rangers, after a brutal stretch of six contests in one days, kick off another rough patch of their schedule tonight. New York plays three games in five days against some of the best teams in both the Eastern and Western conferences. Tonight, it’s the Jets in town, Thursday, the Blueshirts are in Boston, and Saturday, it’s the Panthers at home. The team will be without Ryan Lindgren, injured Sunday, and likely Jacob Trouba, who just started skating, for all three games.

Rangers likely lineup vs. Jets:
Kreider-Zibanejad-Roslovic
Panarin-Trocheck-Lafrenière
Cuylle-Wennberg-Kakko
Vesey-Goodrow-Brodzinski

Gustafsson-Fox
Miller-Schneider
Jones-Ruhwedel

Shesterkin
Quick

Scratches: Trouba (lower-body injury), Lindgren (lower-body injury) Rempe (healthy), Scanlin (healthy)
LTIR: Chytil, Wheeler

Lindgren fortunately was injured not as badly as first thought and will miss 2-3 weeks. Based on the turntable, he may have suffered a hyperextended knee or strained ligament rather than a tear. If he them can be back in 2-3 weeks, keep him in bubble wrap until the playoffs begin in about a month so he is fresh for the postseason. My view is the same with Trouba, who just started skating. If he is ready to return and the team keeps winning, let him be 100% for certain rather than rush him back.

With Lindgren out, Brandon Scanlin was called up. Chad Ruhwedel, acquired at the deadline, will make his Rangers debut tonight opposite Zac Jones. For tonight at least, Erik Gustafsson moves up to play with Adam Fox, leaving the K’Andre Miller-Braden Schneider pair rightfully together.

Matt Rempe completed his four game suspension Sunday but will remain out of the lineup. My view it has more to do with how Jonny Brodzinski and the bottom six played Saturday and Sunday than punishing Rempe as some have suggested. Rempe will get back in, likely against Boston, given the make up of that squad.

The Jets have it all. They can score, skate and play physical while also having an elite netminder. Tonight should be a fun game at MSG.
