As we start to hear from LaLonde with the summer winding down, of course the only questions hockey fans have are to do with Seider and Raymond. Noting little concern about the timeframe of current negotiations, the coach did give some insight into how the 2019 and 2020 first round picks are being viewed internally.

The two players are essentially being talked about as cornerstones of the team moving forward. Seider has always seemed to have maturity beyond his years, and his new deal wouldn’t shock too many if there was an “A” attached to it. If you look far enough down the line, a “C” could be in the Dman’s latter years. Raymond could also be a rotating “A” as he too stepped up and seemed to give more than just a scoring winger to the team. Both have been a pleasant surprise and we can hope that soon enough their newly minted letters will be available at the pro shop for upgrading fan swag.

Beyond that, an interesting tidbit came out of TNT. Many of you know that they lost the NBA broadcast to NBC and the great shame is that Charles Barkley is one of the most entertaining and gifted pre-game, in game and post game voices. With having signed a long term high dollar deal, his early thoughts on retiring and walking away from 10s of millions probably seemed to be a turrible idea and the network will look to utilize him in other capacities.

I’m going to go outside the lines a bit and be frank, I’m not a huge Snoop Dogg fan for sports commentary. King Charles, however, can make just about anything interesting. Possibly even avocado toast. If there are plans to put the King on ice, it could be an entertaining and fun filled pre game panel to be sure.

As always, you make the machine go. Let me know your thoughts as we wind down the summer and get ready for prospects camp. We’re getting closer and that is always an exciting end to the summer.
