Boucher and Greig on Philly's Radar (e3); Fri's Buzzcast

According to reliable sources, the Flyers had interest before the Draft in a major hockey trade to bring either Thomas Chabot or Jacob Chychrun to Philadelphia. Nothing came to fruition. Chychrun, the son of former Flyers defenseman Jeff, was traded to Washington. Philly couldn't match their STRONG interest in Chabot to what Ottawa wanted in return (a lot).

As part of the ideas being kicked around, Philly had interest in two other players with Philly ties (not specifically for those connections but actually in spite of it, because they're aware of the knee-jerk "Nepotism!" stuff that would come with it). One player was injury-prone power forward Tyler Boucher. The other player was Ridly Greig.

From what my sources told me, the Chabot part is dead. Not happening. However, Philly still has in young forwards Greig and/or Boucher.

Boucher, age 21, was the 10th pick in the 2021 Draft. His dad, retired goalie Brian Boucher, is both a national broadcaster and a local broadcaster in Philly. The Flyers like Tyler's rugged style and think he can be a late bloomer if he can stay healthy. Greig, who is 22, was seriously considered by Philly with the 23rd pick at the 2020 Draft. The Flyers chose Tyson Foerster instead. Greig went 28th to the Senators. Ridley is the son of former Whalers, Flyers and Phantoms forward Mark Greig, who has been a Flyers scout for quite a few years.
