Eklund on the Flyers: Are you happy with the trade? |

There were many on here who said the Flyers were gonna just sit pat and not do anything and were upset about the way things were being handled… now that the big trade has come down, how do you feel about this trade and how do you feel about Briere and the Flyers plan now?
I get into my analysis of the trade in my main blog since this is the Big NHL Story of the day..
However many asked me in the comments what exactly the Flyers plan is?
Here are my thoughts on that…
What I think many people on here seemed to feel is that this is a triumvirate of leadership.
And it clearly isn’t..Jones and Briere are only tied to Torts if he gets wins.
They aren’t building a Tortorella team. If anything, they are building a Michkov team.. but really they’re just building the best team they can put on the ice regardless of coaching style.
Remember Briere was a skilled player himself and he knows that skilled players need skilled players to play with to play to their top levels. Look at Kasper in Detroit. He was struggling and always in the doghouse. Suddenly, new coach, and he gets put with Raymond and Larkin and starts putting up points like crazy. Remember Ville Leino here when he was put with Briere and Giroux in 2010 playoffs.
This kind of trade puts Tortorella in the hot seat in a way. He’s not gonna love Kuzmenko’s all around game, but if Michkov and Kuzmenko start putting up points he will be forced to go with it.. In the past Mich and Koz have shown chemistry. I don’t know this for sure, but I would bet anything that they asked Michkov about Kuzmenko and he must have given a strong endorsement. That will also challenge Michkov to make sure this trade works out.
Your thoughts?
