The Leafs and Penguins participated in hockey's favourite score yesterday, 6-5.
To say that goals came fast and furious is an understatement.
Leafs up 2-0 with 2 in 2 minutes, Penguins then had 3 goals in 3 minutes in the first period. Then we fast forward to end of the second period and Leafs score twice in the final minute, to head to the dressing room up 5-4. Rakell tied the game 5-5, ten seconds into the third period, so we had 3 goals in a minute of playing time.
1PM Sunday start, a lot of offence, felt like I was watching the red zone channel.
Nylander's OT winner was a thing of beauty. It was his 35th of the year, and I believe that 30 of his goals this season, were beauties, write that down.
With the win, the Leafs leaped back over the Panthers for top spot in the Atlantic, with the buds having a game in hand still.
Florida improved themselves by adding Seth Jones on the weekend.
Leafs are hot, having won 5 in a row, sweeping their 4 game road trip. They've won 8 out of their past 9 games. But is it trap game night? At home to the Sharks this evening. San Jose are 0-2-2 on their Canadian road trip. They haven't won in Canada this season (0-4-3). Overall they are winless in their last 8 games, 0-5-3. Since Jan 16, the Sharks are the worst team in the NHL at 1-11-3. They sit in the bottom of the NHL standings, the only team yet to reach 40 points on the season.
Matthews who scored on a goalie yesterday afternoon has a 9 game point streak (2G, 11A).
