Trade DudLine Day From Chris |

|
The much anticipated NHL trade deadline day came and went and General Manager Tom Fitzgerald was unable to work his magic. However it was not for a lack of trying.
In what was a sellers market GMTF was one of the most active pursuers of roster reinforcement. In the final few days there were six trades for New Jersey, none of which make them more than just a slight click better. While no significant upgrades were made, additions such as Alex Dumoulin, Daniel Sprong, Cody Glass and Dennis Cholowski will fight for ice time, perhaps sparking a very dormant Devils roster.
Good News/Bad News
Good news: The Devils made four trades at the deadline yesterday!
Bad news: None of them are very impactful if at all…
Good news: Dawson Mercer scored last night!
Bad news: He probably won’t score again until November…
Good news: Erik Haula keeps the streak alive!
Bad news: That streak is for not recording a single point in 28 games…
Good news: The playoffs start in just five weeks and are a new season, a clean slate!
Bad news: The Devils have a very good chance of not being invited…
Hughes heard it here first, and Hughes are hearing it here again!
A few weeks ago I gave my reasons why Quinn Hughes would come to the Devils by 2027, and there are plenty.
Having undoubtedly read my blog, Vancouver brass has entered panic mode, desperately searching for reasons that will make the 25 year old superstar want to stay in British Columbia.
As Darren Dreger reported on TSN on yesterday’s trade deadline show, Canucks GM Patrik Allvin tried desperately to acquire Josh Norris from Ottawa. Josh Norris who spent four years as Quinn’s teammate at both US National Development Program Teams and the University of Michigan. Josh Norris, who is “best friends” with soon (or later but inevitably) to be New Jersey Devil, Quinn Hughes. Nice try Allvin, clever, but no. At this point the question isn’t “if”, but more of a “when?”, will Quinn Hughes join his brothers in Jersey.
