It is always a good sign when the NHL and NHLPA start talking about meeting away from the press...As we saw Thursday, not much good comes from the negotiation/press conference scene...

Feeling in the inner circles, now that the dust has settled from the debacle, is that the sides are simply too close to cancel a season.

I would say about two/thirds of those who I trust feel a season to kick off mid January...now that the players December 15th check has been needlessly lost, I expect the sides to figure out a way to bridge the final gaps.
