Avs trade Gaunce, add grinder |

The colorado avalanche have made their first trade of the trade deadline.
Cameron Gaunce has been traded to the Dallas Stars for czech grinder Tomas Vincour. Gaunce was once considered a prospect with top four potential but was caught down on the depth chart behind Stefan Elliott, Tyson Barrie, Duncan Siemens, not to mention the seven defensemen the Avs have currently on the roster.
Gaunce provides grit and leadership to a team. He plays on special teams, will get in the dirty areas and keep the net clear. Gaunce still has NHL potential, he just was caught behind the talented prospects that the Avs have been stocking up on in the past few drafts.
Vincour will bring grit and size to the Avs. At 6'2 200, he has a big body and loves to play physical. He is an agitator who will get under player's skins. He has had a rough time sticking on the Stars for the past three years however. Has the potential to be a third or fourth line grinding forward if he can find some consistency in his game, that is.
Expect the Avs to be quiet tomorrow, in spite of the Erik Johnson to Philly rumors. Avs might move out a roster defenseman or two but nothing tremendously big.
