We have even more breaking news as the Coyotes have traded the 7th overall pick and Anthony DeAngelo to the Rangers for Derek Stepan and Anti Ranta.
Stepan, 27, is gives you a consistant 55 points and 20 goals. He's great at producing offense and is a B level #1 centre - which is nothing to sneeze, not everyone gets a McDavid.
Considering the Coyotes have so much prospect depth, this is a pretty great trade. The #7 in a weakish draft and a pretty good defenseman is a smalish price to acquire a player who instantly becomes your best forward and a goalie who makes only $1 million and is probably a perfectly acceptable starting goalie.
What an awesome day for the Coyotes.

The media is hilarious.
I have seen the Coyotes called everything from a "trainwreck" to a "disaster" in the last 24 hours. The typical and predictable backlash from the mainstream media (and even some bloggers) has been hilarious to watch.
People just don't watch the Coyotes and don't know how bad their management situation was, nor how badly Tippett has mismanaged his young roster or they don't care and just love old school hockey guys unconditionally.
Frankly, it's embarrassing.
Here's one for all my MSM boys so sad about Tippett!
There is only one way to view the Coyotes situation in the last week: Amazing.
It seems like owner Andrew Barroway and GM John Chayka are a fan of my blog - if not then how to explain the fact that all they've done for the last two weeks is a play by play of all of my recommendations? Guys if you're reading this, I am available for hire.
The Coyotes new owner and his new right-hand man, John Chayka are kicking ass. There is just no other way to put it.
They got rid of their ancient and declining captain, they got rid of their injury prone and overpaid goalie, then they fired their coach.
Now they have made a trade so sweet it gives one happy feelings just thinking about it.
The Coyotes, who have the best prospect pool in the NHL by a good six miles, have now traded one of their worst players and a D level prospect in exchange for one of the NHL's best shot-suppressing defenseman.
Connor Murphy, former first rounder and all-round disappointment is a player who has never been able to live up to his potential.
Last year the Coyotes were roundly criticized for signing him to a bad contract. At the time, I said that it was smart because since it was six years, the cap hit was lower than it otherwise would have been, and while I agreed even at the time that it was an over-payment, I said it was worth the risk because he could improve and become a bargain.
I then pointed out that as a right-shot defenseman with puck-moving ability, there will always be a team that thinks it can extract his talent. I argued that the contract was very favorable on the risk reward scale because if Murphy didn't live up to it, he could easily be moved.
I know this is becoming a pattern, but Tanner was right again.
This trade is Connor Murphy and Laurent Daphin to the Blackhawks for Niklas Hjalmarsson.
It is a trade the Coyotes win easily.
Hammer is 30, he is one of the best pure defensive Dmen in the game and has a reasonable $4 million cap hit for the next two seasons.
Daphin isn't even a top 15 Coyotes prospect and Murphy is terrible.
Jeez, it's almost as if John Chayka knows what he's doing.
If this is a "trainwreck" please let me aboard.
Here's one for the kidz:
Just another in a long line of excellent moves by the Coyotes GM. He acquires a great second pairing Dman that he can put with one of his offensive guys like Chychrun.
Goligoski moves down to become a solid third pairing guy and the Coyotes defense is looking good:
