Yes, the upstart Coyotes are back after an insanely long time off. Last time we talked, I had a different beard! I shaved it off, cause it was out of control, and a new one grew right back. A guy can't win.
The Coyotes play the Sharks tonight as they attempt to keep alive their improbable playoff run.
They are still just two points back, but alas, also only six points out of the NHL's basement. So anything can happen. A chance at Jack Hughes is what should happen.
Derek Stepan is having a great season. Any contending team would be happy to have him as as shut-down third line centre, and the Coyotes should move him.
As fun as it is being only two points out, the Blues are also right there with a game in hand and a vastly superior roster. They should be locks to make it, and I doubt anyone is catching the Wild.
The Coyotes, with no Antti Raanta barely have a chance, and they should embrace the race to the bottom and try to draft Jack Hughs. A franchise player is what they need, and that's the only way to get one.
OEL is doubtful for tonight's game. The Sharks are a top team and the Coyotes don't have their two best players. This almost a certain lost.
I'd like to be more optimistic here, and I hope they make it.
But it's just not likely.

If you don't count the back-up goalie, an NHL team dresses 19 players for a game, and the Coyotes are going to be missing seven of those. That is approximately 40% of their starting lineup.
The fact that we're even talking about the Playoffs means that Toccett should preemtively win the Jack Adams and that John Chayka should get a lifetime contract as GM.
It's crazy.
Good on them. You can't blame their effort and if they didn't suffer just a ridiculous and insane and unusual amount of injuries, they've be a playoff team.
