The Blackhawks Officially Out of the Playoffs

Well, we can’t say the second half of the 2018-19 season wasn’t at least exciting for the Blackhawks.

Last year, it was a lot more depressing to see the Hawks head into a spiral and finish last in the Central with 76 points. This year, they will end between 80-86 points – so not much more – but at least this season feels like the trend is upward for this team vs. the opposite last year.

With the Hawks officially eliminated from playoff contention this year, the only thing left for me to keep an eye on is where the Hawks finish in the standings and excited to see if anyone gets a trial in the next few games from Rockford.

Rockford is in the middle of a playoff push and had an exhilarating 5-3 win last night which was highlighted by:

Dylan Sikura - 2 goals (how good do those feel Dylan?)
William Pelletier – 2 goals in just 13 seconds!
Matthew Highmore – first game since October

Here are the highlights if you missed the game:

Whether Stan tries to keep a strong crew together down there or if he decides to get a look at guys like Ejdsell, Highmore, Krys, Carlsson, etc. will be determined in the next couple of days. There could be an opportunity to do both, as here are the remaining schedules for both teams:

Chicago Blackhawks – 3 games remaining:

Tonight (home) vs. Blues
Friday (home) vs. Stars
Saturday @ Nashville

Rockford IceHogs – 5 games remaining:

Friday @ Texas
Saturday @ Texas
April 9 @ Milwaukee
April 13 @ Iowa
April 14 home vs. Milwaukee

So if the Hawks wanted to get a look at any players, tonight would be the night. The Rockford player could head back to join the team for the week Texas trip.

With Dylan Sikura going down, there is a spot open so keep an eye on Twitter this morning for the update on whether someone gets the nod.

With the Hawks playoff hopes officially done, there will be plenty of time for a post-mortem, but wanted to toss out a question to see the answers:

What was your favourite moment from the past season?

See ya out there!
