Quick Hits: April 17, 2019

1) The Alain Vigneault introductory press conference will be held on Thursday at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. It is tentatively slated for around 11 a.m. EDT.

2) The wrapup/offseason edition of the Broadcasters Roundtable podcast on Flyers Radio 24/7 will be recorded after the Vigneault press conference. I will post a link when it is available online.

3) Congratulations to Flyers prospect Isaac Ratcliffe, whose Guelph Storm team completed a remarkable comeback from a three games to zero deficit in their second-round OHL playoff series with the top-seeded London Knights. In Game 7 on Tuesday night, the Storm trailed London, 3-1, early in the second period and still trailed, 3-2, entering the third period before exploding for three goals in less than four minutes to take a 5-3 lead and then later adding an empty netter to close out the game and series with a 6-3 victory.

Guelph top line of left winger Ratcliffe, Montreal Canadiens center prospect Nick Suzuki and Arizona Coyotes right wing prospect MacKenzie Entwhistle led the charge along with LA Kings defense prospect Sean Durzi. Suzuki scored in the second period to trim the deficit to 3-2. In the third period, Ratcliffe scored the tying and go-ahead (ultimately, the game-winner) goals and then assisted as Entwhistle made it 5-3 at the 6:30 mark. Entwhistle later added another one into an empty net, assisted by Suzuki. Durzi collected two primary assists and a secondary helper amid the five unanswered goals by the Storm.

Ratcliffe, who was quiet offensively through the first four games of the series (no goals, one assist), posted six points (three goals, three assists) over the final three games. He earned first-star honors in Game 7. The Storm will now move on to play the Saginaw Spirit in the Western Conference Finals.

Saginaw defeated the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, four games to two, in the second round of their series. Saginaw built a three games to zero series lead before Morgan Frost came alive
with seven points (including a Game 5 hat trick) over the next two games in 3-0 and 6-2 wins for the Greyhounds. Saginaw then slammed the door with a 5-0 road win in Game 6 to close out the series.

4) The fifth annual edition of the Flyers Alumni Fantasy Camp will take place in Atlantic City from Aug. 16 to 19, 2019. This year's instructors: Bill Barber, Mark Howe, Danny Briere, Keith Jones, Brad Marsh, Bob "the Hound" Kelly, Joe Watson, Bill Clement and Ian Laperriere. Proceeds benefit the charities and community organizations supported by the Flyers Alumni Association.

Each of the first four years of the camp have sold out every registration spot, and this year's edition will do as well. Early registration is key for those who want to attend, as spots are limited to 60 participants in all. Players of all ability and experience levels participate, and participants typically come from across the U.S. and Canada. For more information, click here.
