Russian businessman and the chairman of Emirates Hockey League Vladimir Burdun has announced that he intends to create a KHL expansion team in United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 2021.
''I'm yet to sit down with KHL because my current priority is to fix EHL'' he said.
''We could easily become a team like the Vegas Golden Knights. We'll talk to the KHL and then build our team that'll consist of former NHL starts which will allow us to be competitive real fast.'' Burdun announced.
The chair of EHL also admitted having big names that he is considering for his team: ''I think that we could get Pavel Datsyuk and Sergei Mozyakin to play for us. We're also paying close attention to Alexander Ovechkin and Jevgeni Malkin. We'll reach out to him to talk about a potential (future) contract and then we'll see where it goes.''
''I think that the players that have played in NHL would be happy to move to Dubai. It's a whole different level of life and a bigger money circulation.'' with optimism Burgun noted.
The businessman also revealed that he doesn't know by what name would his team go but many options are being considered. One, for example, could be ''Might Camels''.
