The Anaheim Ducks announced today that they’ve re-signed defenseman Jackson LaCombe and forward Nikita Nesterenko.

LaCombe is 23 years old, and his deal is for two years, carrying a $925,000 cap hit. This past season marked the defender’s first full NHL year, scoring 17 points in 71 games with the Ducks, while averaging over 19 minutes per game. LaCombe is likely to take on a depth role on the blue line, likely playing on the bottom pairing. His deal also came in cheaper than expected: I had projected a two-year deal for LaCombe to come in at a $1.5 million cap hit, at HockeyComparables.com.

Nesterenko will be turning 23 years old later this year, and his one-year contract is worth $874,125 at the NHL level. This past season, Nesterenko got into just three games with the Ducks, spending the majority of the season with the San Diego Gulls, where he posted 37 points in 70 AHL games. Nesterenko is expected to compete for an NHL roster spot next season, but with what could be a fairly crowded bottom of the forward group, it remains to be seen as to whether he can earn a playing role in the NHL.
