The Carolina Hurricanes announced yesterday that they’ve signed defenseman Anttoni Honka to a three-year, entry-level contract. The deal carries a $836,667 cap hit.

Honka is 21 years old and was selected by the team in the third round of the 2019 NHL Draft. The defenseman has spent his entire career in Finland to this point and this past season, the defender scored 37 points in 57 games in Finland's highest professional league.

While the organization does have strong defensive depth, Honka projects as a really solid prospect. We’ll see how he performs with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL but he does have a high offensive ceiling.
