The game was much closer than the score may let on. Especially in the third period, the Sabres were pressing and were certainly getting the bulk of the chances. The Islanders also got lucky with a goal being called back, as the result of an offside.
Sorokin played well in the win and it should certainly be a confidence booster. He made some nice glove saves, including a huge one on Victor Olofsson, after a bad turnover from Josh Bailey, then made a really good save on a cross-crease pass in the final frame as well. It’s not like he was forced to keep the Islanders in the game but he did make some key saves in the win.
Anthony Beauvillier made his return to the lineup but wasn’t overly noticeable in the win. After a slow start before the injury, hopefully he’s able to bounce back soon.
Despite that, the Islanders managed to pick up a win to sweep their two-game series with the Sabres and have now gone 5-0-1 in their last six games. The team has been on a roll as of late and have regained ground in the East Division.

Are you in favour of having Josh Bailey on the first line and moving Jordan Eberle down the lineup?
