Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jake Gardiner has been cleared to resume his playing career, according to general manager Don Waddell.
Gardiner missed the entire 2021-22 season, due to surgery on his back and hips. He has another year remaining on his contract, worth $4.05 million.
It’s great to see that Gardiner is healthy and able to play hockey again, following a lot of injury trouble. It does make for a bit of an interesting situation for the Hurricanes, however, given that he won’t be placed on LTIR and his contract will fully count against the cap.
Check back in the coming days for more coverage on what the news means for the Hurricanes.
