Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf announced today that he will retire at the end of the 2021-22 season.
Getzlaf was selected by the Ducks in 2003 and has spent 17 seasons with the team, with more than a decade of that spent as captain. The forward has scored three goals and 31 points in 49 games with Anaheim this season and 1,013 points in 1,150 career games.
Getzlaf won a Stanley Cup with Anaheim in 2007, as well as two Olympic Gold Medals with Canada in 2010 and 2014. He’s been a huge part of the team for over a decade and a half now, and owns the franchise record for both games played and points.
