The San Jose Sharks have announced additions to their coaching staff, as well as changes to the coaching staff for the AHL's San Jose Barracuda.
As expected, Bob Boughner will be back as full-time head coach of the Sharks. Joining the staff as an associate coach will be Rocky Thompson, which was reported as far back as July. Thompson took over as coach of the OHL's Windsor Spitfires when Boughner left the team in 2015 and has been the head coach of the AHL’s Chicago Wolves for the last three seasons. John Madden, who was the head coach of the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters for three seasons between 2016 and 2019, will also join the staff as an assistant coach.
Mike Ricci, who spent the back half of the year as an assistant coach with the Sharks, will now work as the NHL development coach, while Roy Sommer will return to his role as head coach of the Barracuda, after also spending the back half of the year as an associate coach with the Sharks. Dany Sabourin has also been hired as goaltending coach for the Barracuda.
