Forward Thomas Bordeleau will be the San Jose Sharks’ only prospect competing at this year’s World Junior Championship tournament, as he represents the United States.

Bordeleau was selected 38th overall by the Sharks in 2020. This is the first and only chance he will get to participate in the tournament, after being ruled out of both the 2021 tournament and initial (cancelled) 2022 tournament due to COVID protocols.

The forward will also be an assistant captain with the United States. He spent the year with the University of Michigan but also played eight NHL games with San Jose. Bordeleau could compete for a spot with the Sharks next season.

The United States kick off their tournament tonight against Germany.
