Stars Gameday: Game 6 vs. EDM

The Dallas Stars (4-1-0) will look to get right back on the winning track after suffering their first loss of the season on Thursday in Washington. Tonight, Pete DeBoer's team will host the defending Western Conference champion Edmonton Oilers (2-3-0). Game time at American Airlines Center is 3 p.m. CDT.

The Stars got away with turnover issues in their opening night road win over the Nashville Predators last week but similar issues proved costly in the Capitals game, particularly in a horrid second period.

Additionally, Dallas has been scoring a 5-on-5 so far this season but the team is just 1-for-17 on the power play. Mason Marchment's goal from near the hash marks against the Predators on opening night is the Stars' lone power play tally to date.

Lastly, the Stars will try to generate more offense from the back end with defensemen jumping up into the play. In the first five games, the Stars have just one point (Thomas Harley with one assist) from the entire blueline. They've had a couple nice breakout passes from Miro Heiskanen trigger eventual goals at the other end but other two-plus touches before the goal resulted in no assist for the D on the play.

Look for No. 1 goalie Jake Oettinger to return to the net for the Stars against the Oilers on Saturday. Brendan Smith (undisclosed) is probable to play on Saturday. Fourth-line center Sam Steel is questionable. Tyler Seguin and Matt Dumba (week-to-week) remained out in the Washington game.

Saturday night's lineup will be posted in tomorrow's game report.
