Here we are. I can’t help but give a shout out to the Sabres hockeybuzz faithful with their commentary this week, and the blow up throughout the draft. Waiting in the weeds, I have predicted the ominous confusion before July 1st. What you have all said with your anger represents how I felt up to this point. Let down, and complete confusion with the direction of this team is the only road to go down at this juncture, after our club just drafted too many prospects once again. It is ok to have guys in the pipeline who get the chance to play, and you have the ability to move them for different pieces. But what we actually have is a complete nightmare of a plethora of choices on our plate that was purposely guided because apparently, trades were on the table that didn’t come to fruition for one reason or another. Adams was making excuses before the Sphere cultivated inspiration to us all with hopes of enjoying a superficial, cheesy trade horn graphic. Apparently, one of the teams with the most-young capital in the system, and high draft picks, couldn’t figure it out, so they just made the selections again.

Before I prematurely beat on the organization again, and our mundane tight lipped puppet general manager, I do want to give a shout out to those who pulled on our crest on stage. This is not your fault, hopefully we got a gem in one of you. We certainly stocked the blueline with endless possibilities, and the people in power diligently shook hands with a smile. Let’s not dismiss our 1st round pick Konsta Helenius, he was worthy of being chosen, and watching his tape you can’t be anything but intrigued. If we had to get someone, a guy with a motor and a physical side isn’t a bad reach. The upside is obviously there, but the European game doesn’t always translate to the NHL. Once again, a little small in stature, but a high skill set and having big responsibilities at a young age is encouraging. Konsta might be “hella cool” for us one day.

Hopefully he can’t wear number 91.. How far out of reach is that now? I kid, but we know that the pipe dream of any savior to give hope to our season is fading. Like I said, perhaps I have to eat my stinky Daoust’s after the trigger is pulled when the month turns and we all eat crow, but this process seems familiar.

Back to Adams and our organization. How many point producers can you let walk out the door in hopes that you have one waiting in the wings to replace them? Sam, Ryan, Jack, Mitts, and now the Skinner buyout. There better be something special on the horizon that is jaw dropping or they better brace for more than a tire fire. I wrote today because this is getting too unbelievable and peculiar. They know we are not that stupid. I don’t like being told that acquisitions are hard when it is related to the value of return. Just lose a trade to win. It is time to give up more than you should to get what you desperately need. If you are not wanting to spend to the cap, then own up to it. Are we really supposed to believe that the landscape of the league is handcuffing possibilities to improve our chances? That we can’t bring the noise? That we have no fight in the dog? Is Kevyn really Lucy losing to Snoopy who has one boxing glove on his nose? I am really getting sick of his boring, monotone, prepared, and expected statements. This slow-motion ride is making me nervous. Put your hands up and start punching. Force the issue and show everyone that we are relevant.

In regards to the big move for Malenstyn in exchange for the extra second round pick. These guys are everywhere. It all depends if they are utilized, and then it tends to bolster defensive statistics. We have had them come and go. Am I missing something here or is this another Mr. Eric Robinson? Hopefully he ignites the bottom six somewhere, but this is not a component that just electrified a fan base that needs more.

Terry, I know you have drilled for oil with ease, but I hope you understand that it is not easy to produce diamonds with a guy who won’t clench his body and make it happen. We are waiting for a whisper of hope to fuel our city. If you ride the wave of failure, it will never reach the shore. We are waiting for something of significant impact that changes our fortunes and yours.

Thanks
