Updated...For what it is worth, not even the other NHL owners (ones who are not at the negotiations) have any idea as to why the podium has been assembled. .."heard nada"

UpdAted 12:05: Still a ways to go.." longer when you get to the point of putting pen to paper" but we are going to arrive..just not as fast as tonight.

Update 1:18am. Everyone is very tight lipped tonight. Meetings have ended. The NHLPA will meet in the am, and it is expected the sides will resume discussions around noon Eastern time.

Updated 1:50 am some details..

NHL allowing arbitration to remain the same as the last CBA is a huge compromise for some if the owners..

The NHL reportedly would both budge n on the 5 year contract limit. A little surprising..

The NHL had upped their make whole number to 300 million by splitting the 182 million difference at 91.

Also hearing talk of the amnesty buyout clause is coming up positive on both sides.

And the idea of playing on Christmas day..

More in the morning.

So hopes should be tempered..hold on.
