Earlier this month, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman announced that former Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman, head coach Joel Quenneville, and VP of hockey operations Al MacIssac were eligible to be hired after being prevented from employment in the aftermath of the Kyle Beach situation with the Hawks.

There had been some rumors that Quenneville had attracted some interest from teams in search for head coaches this summer, but it is Bowman who is the first to make his return to the NHL, as on Wednesday the three-time Cup-winning GM was hired to take the place of the retired Ken Holland as their GM and VP of hockey operations.
