Our first best on best tournament since 2016 is upon us as Sweden and Canada face off in Montreal on Wednesday night.

Interesting father & son combos in this one. Michael Nylander, father of slick Willie, scored the last goal by Sweden against Canada (non-IIHF) tournament, when he tied the game in the semi-finals against Canada in 1996, Theo Fleury scored the winner in double OT. Sam Reinhart, son of Paul, playing for the red and white, his dad played for Canada at the 1981 Canada Cup.
I really miss those Canada jerseys they wore at the Canada Cup from 1976-1991. The Hockey Canada jersey with the black added to the Leaf along with a skater, seemed a little odd, glad it's gone and back to a traditional jersey.

Canada has won 6 straight vs Sweden in an NHL sanctioned best on best tournament. Sweden last winning in 1984 round robin (Canada swept the two game final).

Jordan Binnington gets the start in net for Canada, he's one of two goalies in the tournament that have won a Stanley Cup, the other being Adin Hill.

Only health question for Canada is that of Travis Konecny who's been iced with illness.
Speaking of ill. That's what other teams will be when Canada goes on the power play, Crosby, McDavid, MacKinnon, Makar, Reinhart, OH MYYYYY.

Canada's top power play unit, Canada's other power play line, is, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THE OTHER LINE IS.

Great hockey, fun, February blahs end tonight.
