So, there’s the good news. Detroit scored 3 goals in quick succession for the fastest 3 scored this season. Then there’s the exact same issue as yesterday. Giving up a lead, at one point up 4-1, and heading to overtime at 4-4. However, this time it was Kane to the rescue in the last minute of overtime to give Detroit a 5-4 win, grabbing 3 of 4 points in the back to back. (Ironically, Grand Rapids also grabbed 3 of 4 this weekend).

Kane’s 3 point night combined with Kasper’s 2 point saw the two connect for a sigh of relief (and probably someone drinking out of a shoe) as Detroit looks to stay in the playoffs picture with 25 games left to go. Admittedly, Anaheim’s last goal shocked Lyon enough to make the goalie flinch in surprise. A backhand through traffic and in. Crazy finish.

The team caught a huge break in overtime as Anaheim missed on a wide open net. Kane was behind the play, and Kasper passed the puck from behind the Wing’s net and found #88 at center ice giving him a 1 on 0 shootout style rush and the future hall of famer made no mistake on this one, sliding the puck 5 hole for a (literal) last minute win in overtime.

McLellan will likely have some input about two games that saw leads forfeited, but most of the team is probably kicking off the rust of 2 weeks off. Exciting win as the season heads into the home stretch. As always, let me know your thoughts in the comments. Enjoy the goal compilation and, as always, if you can “like”, share and subscribe to the channel. Thank you so much to everyone who has!

1st Period goals:

At 3:11 Marco Kasper opened the scoring, getting his 10th of the season and netting Raymond his 40th assist. Kasper started the play with a steal in the neutral zone that got to Larkin who carried into the O zone. Larkin lost the puck, but Raymond grabbed it, did a stick lift and spin, then put the puck on net hitting Kasper’s foot (no kick) and possibly the heel of his stick and going 5 hole. 1-0 DET

Just over a minute later, Debrincat struck on the power play. Seider walked the puck and passed it to Kane. Kane got the puck to Larkin who shot and Debrincat jumped on the rebound for his 26th of the year. 2-0 DET

37 seconds later Detroit scored again on the power play, this time courtesy of Kane for his 13th of the season. Kane and Seider passed back and forth, then the future hall of famer skated to between the faceoff dots and rang the pipe. Raymond with 2nd assist. 3-0 DET

Anaheim gets on the board at 8:24. 3-1 DET

Shots: 13-10 ANA
Score: 3-1 DET

2nd Period goals:

At 2:14 Detroit grabbed their third power play tally of the game courtesy of JT Compher who jumped on a rebound off of a shot from Gustafsson and got his 7th of the year. 4-1 DET

At 7:04 Anaheim gets one back. 4-2 DET

Shots: 24-21 DET
Score: 4-2 DET

3rd Period goals:

Anaheim pulling the goalie around the 3 minute mark

At 17:44 Anaheim got within one. 4-3 DET

At 19:05 Anaheim ties it up. Deja vu all over again. 4-4

Shots: 31-28 DET
Score: 4-4

Overtime:

Kane and Kasper Combine (I love alliteration) and close the contest in the final minute. Ironically, Anaheim nearly ended the overtime as Kane was well behind the play. The puck ended up behind Detroit’s net and Kasper found a wide open “showtime” at center ice who essentially skated in for a shootout style 1 on 0 and slipped the puck 5 hole. The building was shaking, and those are the moments that you love to see (after multiple moments you don’t).

Shots: 36-28 DET
Score: 5-4 DET
