Detroit prospect Andrew Gibson is heading to Nashville. In return Detroit has retained the rights for Jesse Kiiskinen and a second round pick.

Update - Pavel Datsyuk headed for the HOF!

Update - Walman and TB’s 2nd traded to SJ for futures. Clears 3.4m. Interesting day

Gibson has already signed his ELC and the right shot Dman looks to be a boost for Nashville. Kiiskinen is unsigned at this point. Detroit has several D in the pipeline and appears to be trying to convert that into adding the 6’ right shooting winger.

Honestly, this doesn’t look like a great deal for Detroit but I will happily be wrong about that. Whatever Yzerman and co have planned, it seems like Gibson may have risked being lost in the pipeline (per the article).

Let me know your thoughts, and what an extra 2nd round pick could do for Detroit. Does this seem like a move that will facilitate something else closer to the draft with an extra 2nd, or just European scouting hoping to find ways to add to the forward core?
