Winnipeg Jets center Mark Scheifele scored goal #300 for his career last night!

It will be one that will be on his career highlight reel forever as it won the game for the Winnipeg Jets in Overtime over the Chicago Blackhawks by the score of 2-1. It was a pretty give and go with his longtime linemate Kyle Connor. The only other 300 goal scorer in Winnipeg Jets history was Scheifele’s former mentor and coach, Hall of Famer, Dale Hawerchuck. Pretty incredible accomplishment for #55. With him being signed long term, it is very possible Scheifele can hit the 500 goal mark as a Winnipeg Jet.

Minutes before goal number #300, Scheifele scored #299 with the extra attacker to tie the game at 1 with just over a minute left in regulation. It was a very tight game. The Blackhawks got the ice-breaker with under 5 minutes left in the second period when Ryan Donato went streaking on the left side of the ice and fired a perfectly placed shot past Connor Hellebuyck on the blocker side. That was the only puck to get past Hellebuyck all night as he shut the door the rest of the way and kept the Jets one shot away from squaring the game until they finally did so at the 59 minute mark.

The attendance for the game was around 14500. About 800 seats shy of a sellout. However, it should be noted that there was also a Winnipeg Blue Bomber home game happening at the same time which was approximately a 32000 capacity crowd sellout. All in all, there were almost 47,000 people in attendance watching the their Winnipeg teams on Friday night.

The Jets are next in action tomorrow night vs the Minnesota Wild.
