RIP Harry Doyle

John Klingberg is back in the NHL, with the Oilers, not the Leafs. He last played in the NHL on November 11/2023. Hard to believe it's been almost 10 years since the 32 year old signed that 7 year contract extension with the Stars.

Coming off a 1 year deal with the Leafs, in which he participated in 14 games before he was hip to be square and his season was over.  I think Toronto doesn't give him a tribute video for his 5 assists. His 5 points with Leafs rank him T607th in career points with Toronto, with the likes of Matt Martin and Toots Holway.

Meanwhile, back on the ice, Mitchy The Kid (see City Slickers), picked up his 700th career point with the Leafs. Sixth player in franchise history to hit that milestone. The Buds ended their 3 game losing streak Thursday night with a most triumphant win at home against Sheldon Keefe. Matthews and Nylander each scored twice.  Leafs have now won 5 in a row when they have to dance past 60 minutes.

Toronto heads to rivalry town tomorrow and take on the Habs. Montreal 11-2-1 in their last 14 games and sit one point out of a wild card spot. Habs and Leafs have split two games this season, Montreal winning on opening night 1-0 at home, Leafs took a 4-1 W in Toronto back in November.
