I am just back from the Philadelphia Flyers' presser announcing the appointmnt of veteran University of North Dakota head coach Dave Hakstol as the 19th head coach of the club. (This is, by the way, my 17th such Flyers' press conference for a new head coach going back to Fred Shero in 1971 which Dave found pretty amazing when I told him.) Here are seven pictures I took at the presser.

I personally found both GM Ron Hextall's and Dave Hakstol's comments to be right to the point and am enthused now by this very surprising pick of an NCAA coach coming to the NHL without ever having coached a pro team before. Hakstol is just the fourth following Ned Harkness (Cornell-Detroit), Bob Johnson (Wisconsin-Calgary), and Herb Brooks (Minnesota-US Olympic Team-New York Rangers).

(For full coverage of the presser check out Bill Meltzer's blog.)
