The Fourth Period’s head writer David Pagnotta has speculated the Ottawa Senators may be interested in acquiring the services of Columbus Blue Jackets’ defenseman Ivan Provorov ahead of the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline on March 7th.
Provorov, 28, is a first round pick from the Flyers in 2015, seventh overall. Columbus acquired the blue liner from Los Angeles through a three team deal at 30% retained salary with Philadelphia.
The defenseman has six goals; 19 assists; 25 points in 56 games with the Jackets this season.
His younger brother, Vladimir Provorov, has committed to the Ohio State University starting in 2026. The agent has also spoke about wanting an extension with the club.
Ottawa has three former Flyers in the organization, including Claude Giroux; Nick Cousins; and Zach MacEwen. They have a native Russian in Artem Zub.
His fit on the club could be with Chabot or on the third pair to let Sanderson and Chabot run their own pairs.
