The long haul is finally over. With the ongoing 2025 World Junior Championships at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, the Senators have been on the road for nine consecutive games. This is the final one as they face an Atlantic Division foe. This is the first time the Senators are at the Little Caesars Arena and will be the first battle with Todd McLellan behind the Detroit bench.

Detroit is currently on a four game winning streak with coach McLellan. The young guns of Seider; Edvinson; Raymond; and Larkin have been leading the way. Four former Senators continue to live on the Wings’ roster, including DeBrincat; Tarasenko; Motte; and Talbot. For Talbot, this is the third team that he and McLellan have been together on; Los Angeles and Edmonton prior to this.

Ottawa is up in the season series 1-0 with the victory at home last month with the 2-1 regulation win. Former Red Wings’ David Perron and Nick Jensen remains out of the lineup; Linus Ullmark is week-to-week; Jacob Bernard-Docker is out after crashing into the boards at practice yesterday; Maxence Guenette has been recalled from the AHL Sens. Journeymen Travis Hamonic and Michael Amadio are also out with injuries.

Side note, Congratulations to Perron to being named on the Blues’ Quarter Century Second Team by the NHL.

A regulation win will have them at the second wild card position with 42 points in the Eastern Conference standings. The logjam has them with Montreal; Columbus; and Pittsburgh.

The goaltending duel is expected to be Alex Lyon and Anton Forsberg.
