The Ottawa Senators fail to earn a point in the state of Florida after a three point effort from Matthew Tkachuk in a 5-1 regulation victory for the defending Stanley Cup champions.

Period I

Brady Tkachuk opened the scoring on the powerplay for the only Senators’ goal of the game. The club capitalized on the Carter Verhaeghe cross check for the Sens’ captain’s 21st goal of the season from Drake Batherson and Tim Stützle.

Period II

Matthew Tkachuk tied the game at one on the powerplay for his 22nd of the year from Sam Reinhart and Sasha Barkov.

Aleksander Barkov got the game winner for his club as the captain earned his 14th of the campaign from Tkachuk and Verhaeghe.

Gustav Forsling added the insurance marker for his eighth of the season from Nate Schmidt.

Sam Bennett scored the final goal on a goaltender for his 18th of the season from Tkachuk and Evan Rodrigues.

Period III

Anton Lundell put the game away on the empty net for his 13th shorthanded and unassisted.

Sergei Bobrovsky had 26 saves on 27 shots for a 0.963 save percentage.

Linus Ullmark had 43 saves on 47 shots against for a 0.915 save percentage.
