Sens Lose First Back to Back in 2025 When Every Point Matters |

The Ottawa Senators have dropped both games on the road by the final score of 8-2. The first game in Dallas was where both goals were scored; the second was a shutout loss. Here’s what happened.
OTT PG37 @ Dallas Stars — Stars Shining
The Ottawa Senators dropped their first game of 2025 to the Dallas Stars by the final score of 4-2 from a Roope Hintz two goal game.
Period I
Roope Hintz opened the scoring of the game from a Zach Ostaphuck hooking penalty for his 17th goal of the campaign. Jason Robertson and Miro Heskianen registered the assists.
The Senators recorded their two goals in 24 seconds.
Brady Tkachuk scored the first Ottawa goal of 2025 for his 17th of the year from Shane Pinto.
Ridly Greig has found his goal scoring touch by having a three game streak. Greig has four goals in his previous six games. His sixth of regular season was assisted by the captain.
This was the only lead the Senators had the whole evening, with holding it until midway through the second.
Period II
Dallas captain Jamie Benn evened the game with his ninth of the campaign with the assists to my Stars’ player to watch Matt Duchene and Wyatt Johnston.
Hintz smacked in the winner a minute later for his second of the night and 18th. Robertson and ex-Sen Evgeni Dadonov had the helpers.
Period III
Duchene snapped the final goal of the evening for 15th of the season from Johnston.
Goaltenders
Jake Otteinger saved 11 of 13 Senators’ shots for an 0.846 save percentage.
Leevi Merilainen allowed four goals on 25 shots for an 0.840 save percentage.

Dallas — Matt Duchene had the final goal of the evening and the primary assist on the game tying goal.
Ottawa — Jake Sanderson was a -2 with 4 blocked shots in 22:37TOI.

The Ottawa Senators drop the back half in a shutout to the St. Louis Blues, 4-0
Period I
Captain Brayden Schenn opened the scoring with his seventh of the season from big offseason matchup Dylan Holloway. This would stand as the game winner.
Brandon Saad was the only other goal scorer for the home team. His first goal was late in the first unassisted for his fifth of the year.
Period II
Saad’s second if the night and sixth of the season with the assists going to Pavel Buchnevich and Robert Thomas.
Period III
In the final two minutes, the hat-trick occurred for Saad with his seventh of the campaign from Colton Parayko.
Goaltenders
Jordan Binnington got his third shutout of the year stopping all 20 shots.
Anton Forsberg started in his first game in the new year. His last game was Dec. 8 against the Islanders. The backup goalie allowed 4 goals on 25 shots for a 0.840 save percentage.

St. Louis — Mathieu Joseph was a +2 with a takeaway in 13 minutes.
Ottawa — Brady Tkachuk was a -2 with a minor penalty for cross checking Joseph. Tkachuk had 3 shots and hits.
