The Ottawa Senators continue their dominance through the month of December with a 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild.

Period I

Frederick Gaudreau potted the only Minnesota goal for his seventh of the season and 50th of his career. Dennis Chisholm and Marcus Foligno had the assists.

Period II

Risky Greig tied the game at one a piece for the young winger’s fifth of the campaign. The first rounder has recorded goals in back to back games. His 20th career goal was supported by Captain Brady Tkachuk and veteran Travis Hamonic.

Period III

Josh Norris broke the tie with a powerplay goal late in the period for the eventual game winner. Norris’ 14th of the year was assisted by Jake Sanderson and Drake Batherson.

Claude Giroux added the insurance marker with the unassisted empty netter for his ninth of the year.

Goaltenders

Former Senators’ goaltender Filip Gustavsson saved 34 of 36 shots from the visitors for a 0.944 save percentage.

Leevi Merilainen saved 30 of 31 shots for his second career win. Merilainen had a 0.968 save percentage.

Next Game

This was the Senators’ last game of the 2024 calendar year. The first game in 2025 is in Dallas against the Stars for their first meeting of the season amidst the holiday practice fine heading their way.
