Must be so quiet that nobody knows about it except us....find it strange that nobody has Doan linked to the hawks? Is that a good or bad omen?
NHL.COM: Dan Rosen lists Vancouver, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and the NY Rangers as five possible landing spots for Shane Doan if he decides to leave the Phoenix Coyotes.

After what happened with Parise and Suter, I think that's what the hawks want, which I think JJ made abundantly clear. Are you going to ask for his sources now?

No, but we're not the only ones who read this blog and if what JJ says is true and is information is respected then you would think we would of been added to the list by other writers, bloggers etc. once they read JJ's info....that's all Im saying. |

Everybody has their own sources and certain team leak info and other don't. JJ has called things that have happened that other writers did not pickup on beforehand. If you are trying to discredit JJ and his sources please go somewhere else.

Doan was interviewed and said he had visited with Phillie and NYR because he was in town for the CBA meetings. What he also said was that he and his wife will narrow it down to five or six teams before he makes a decision. It will be a family decision as he mentioned they'll be moving with him wherever. So, my take is that he's made his way east to west. He's likely talked to several teams east already. I bet he shows in San Jose next. One of the factors he stated after family, was the possibility of playing for a consistent winner and a shot at the cup. Don't discount Nashville as a dark horse here. |

Thx Frank, but I don't think that's what he means.
I don't know (or really care) if my information is respected by other writers or bloggers.
I know this: when I broke the Kane wrist surgeryt hing last summer, a number of mainstream writers and bloggers took major shots at me (publicly) and many of them ended up eating crow (the cowardly ones privately and the gutsy, classy ones publicly).
Here's the other thing people need to understand about a lot of my information: 90% of it is about intentions and conversations only, not predictions of things that are going to actually happen. That's why, when I talk about the Hawks being in on Suter or Parise, but then they don't get either guy, it is so childish for people to say my sources are wrong. I never predicted the Hawks would definitely get either. All I reported was that I was hearing about the Hawks having interest, being in on it. And in both cases, it was true.
Finally, on stuff like what Rosen reports. I know the Hawks wanted to keep their interest in Doan low-key—to avoid another situation where expectations get built up, they don't get him and there's another #bowmanfail.
I know Rosen and Brian Hedger cover the Hawks closely for nhl.com. But in this case, i would not assume they know who's in and who's out. At all.

...And the CBA talks opened in Chgo and Doan was front and center. |

"We like who we are, and we like where we’re at and we like the composition of the roster"
- Mike Rizzo GM of the Washington Nationals, after not making any deadline deals.
Sounds like he's been reading from Stan's book of affirmations.

Really now, what's he going to say, "we still lead our division but we'll choke..." ??
It's all sound bites to fill the days of sports radio and the blogosphere. |

Didn't say there is a mutual interest in screwing up the momentum.
I said any stoppage will be viewed by most folks as Billionaire owners and Millionaire players not ironing out their differences.
As far as Bettman's stewardship, that can be argued seven ways of Sunday but what it really is big market vs small market owners; regardless of the so-called Commish.
Been there in MLB for decades, now at a your neighborhood NHL team too. - blackhawk24
The MLB seems to be a little more profitable than the NHL?
There seems to be some big differences between the big markets that have a solid fan base vs the markets that are barely if at all scraping by.
Especially if there is some kind of revenue sharing I could see it causing some waves on the ownership side. |

Just heard something from a source about some "house cleaning" going on "at the UC," have asked for more info. Dunno if anything's been reported to this end or if this is something that will come out in the next few weeks. We'll see.
Will also say it did not sound major. |

I hope that housecleaning doesn't involve Pierre Gauthier getting any more responsibility than he has already, like being named Assistant GM. |

By house cleaning are we talking about spare parts taking up roster spots i.e. Beach, Frolik, Lalonde, etc? Out with the old, in with the Saad.... Or management/staff?

I would think "housecleaning" at "the UC" would mean some moves in the front office. If those moves are just "minor moves," it could be a change in scouting, medical, player personnel, ect. |

My guess is that it's the reshuffling of people currently in the front office, and assigning them into roles that make more sense for their knowledge base. |

Coming to the UC, Stan Bowman as beer Vendor, the pretzel guy as the new GM, Tommy Hawk as director of player personnel |

That was never my intention or did it even sound like that! I was just wondering why certain information was known and some not...it was just a question.
Have not been on this blog very long but have always been very complimentary of JJ and his work.
I think you need to improve your reading skills before posting stupidities. |

I would think a 2 part. On Doan's side, maybe he doesnt want to advertise every city he visits. On the Hawks end, do they want to advertise this and possibly fail to land him. Strike 3 on the UFA scale. They openly pursued Parise and Suter, maybe they want to save face in front of the fans that they landed no big name UFAs (if it was openly advertised they were going for Doan). This would make it appear to the fan base that players don't want to come here and maybe loose the luster of the Hawks organization being a "choice" destination for free agents to the average bandwagon fan (you know, the ones that do not know who the ABC line was, or pulled their jersey out of mothballs when the Hawks won the cup). - ikeane
To be fair, I don't know that Suter's agent ever had intentions of him coming here. It sounds like the agent played the hawks to build up the offer from others. Parise is probably in the same boat. I think they both wanted Min from the get go. |
