I hope Toews can sway Doan to come to Chi-town.
JJ, is the mess in the front office something that could possibly scare of Doan? |

Outstanding read JJ. Keep em coming. Hope Doan dons the Indianhead, he is the type of player solely lacking in the top 6 (at least at the end of the season, Carcillo started pretty strong on the wing next to Hoss and Kaner last year) |

If I was a player I would want a unified front in the front office. In the military, confusion in the higher ups kills morale in the lower ranks, I am sure it is the same way in the NHL. |

Character counts. Fact that farm system ranks#5 in NHL may come into play down the road. More concerned about CBA at this point. Doan would be a great addition leadership wise, but the reality is....might have been a better add four years ago. |

I dont want to be the one giving up on this season, but if we do sign Doan (assuming its going to be around 6M/year) how does that affect us being players for next years crop of free agents? And who is up for free agency that may interest us? |

Fantastic, as always.
I'm sure it kills players like Toews, Keith, Seabrook, Sharp, etc, to see the holes in the roster and have their hands tied. They can't voice their opinions too much, if at all, to the men upstairs and, obviously, can't say squat to the media. My opinion on management and managing has always been that you ask the guys in the trenches what their needs are and really take their opinions to heart. |

I agree Ian. This may be the thing that scares off Doan, provided Bowman put in a competitive bid for him. |

Here's hoping on Doan.
I still say the coaching staff is the second biggest weakness right now, behind goalie.
Off for a couple weeks in the woods of Pennsylvania. I hope something happens while I'm gone, but not counting on it. |

Doan is the power forward the top 6 is missing. If he comes to Chicago, he does improve the Hawks chances of winning a Stanley Cup.
I'll agree that he would have been a better addition four years ago. He'd still be a good addition now. |

TSN says Doan is looking for $7.5 x 4 years. If true, that's a deal killer all by itself.
The next spin from Madison Avenue will be how the rest of the Central division got so much worse, and since the Hawks stayed status quo, they should be a shoe in for division champs, giving them home ice in the first round. |

JJ, does the fact that Saad was not at the convention (thats what I thought I heard) change your theory that they're hyping up the prospects as a viable alternative to signing some stud FA's?
And is there any possibility that Toews might be willing to "loan" his "C" to Doan for a few years? |

Who cares about next year's free agents: the only Stanley Cup you can win this year is this year's Stanley Cup.
Do what you can for this year, and rely on the front office to take care of next year. |

Just avoid a potential capocalypse like they faced 2 summers ago.
Why try to project next year's FA market now? There's a whole season (plus TDL) to happen and a 2013 cup at stake first.
The 'Hawks need to focus on '13 first, then let the rest fall into place. |

If Doan is to come here, he knows he's not getting a "C" on his jersey. That's just a silly idea. Even Doan knows better than this.
I could see Doan getting an "A" on his jersey, if that's what it takes to get the deal done. |

JJ nice writeup
Doan for me is exactly what the hawks need in a power forward. I like the way the rest of the players slot into roles.
IMHO if you want kane to be the 2C he needs a doan as a winger to be successful
I am also hoping he can mentor stalberg into becoming a true power forward. I dont think the coaching staff is capable of this.
Rocky and toews close the deal |

Those demands are GREEDY...he'd be making a full million more than Tazer and that is a NON-STARTER for me. Love Doan, but he's pretty phucking full of himself by the look of it. He can afford to be though. He's a HIGH CHARACTER, GRITTY, STILL PRODUCTIVE leader...but $7.5 per for 4.....he's DREAMING.
