Not if rumors are true...the Flames want a good return for him...probably a roster guy & a 1st to start. - Jsaquella
If reports are true, there doesn't seem to be many teams beating down Calgary's door for JBo, any why should they? His talent doesn't justify his cap hit.
But he is a good d-man who can eat 25 minutes a game reducing the strain on Timo, plays every game (only missed a full season one year), and can move the puck. His cap would be on the books for only two years which wouldn't be terrible, and would be a good addition on the PP.
That said, what would they want in return? I'd consider giving up a first because of the above pluses, and not much more (low level or a non roster player not named Laughton) because of his salary. |

The thing about the cap hit is at this point with $10 million in LTIR does it even matter for this season? And with Kimmo off the books they could afford jaybo in his final year next season. Big if, but if he finds his game again it would be nice to have the inside track to resign him. He's only 28. If he makes the team better.... get him. Jmo.
Let's not pretend his contract looks like Luongo, hossa, or Prongers. It's 2 years. - moylander
Keep in mind that LTIR for players who are expected to return at some point is only temporary. And for me it's not about affording him. Do you take on a contract where the player is vastly overpaid just because you can afford him?
And you want to stay out of using LTIR if at all possible. Although that may not be possible. |

Possible, but Calgary doesn't have to move him, so they can wait for what they want. |

There will be other moves available later in the Season where you don't have to drastically overpay a player. It's not Bouwmeester or bust. |

I would keep them waiting and move on to another option. |

Depends on the trade cost. I'd be interested if it was Walker, a AHL level forward(Testwuide?) and a 2nd for Bouwmeester. |

You are referring to drastically overpaying in dollars. I think for what jaybo brings we could get a bargain in what we have to give up in assets. Would you rather overpay in assets to get yandle? He's much more affordable from a dollar standpoint. Not picking a fight.... just curious.
Agree it's not bouwmeester or bust.... but I'd give up cousins and a 1st (at most) for him due to the circumstances. |

From the reports that are rumored Calgary wouldn't even talk with that offer. |

What are the assets that we have to give up for Bouwmeester? Yes, I'd absolutely rather overpay in assets for a player like Yandle.
Let me ask you a simple question. Would you honestly be interested in Bouwmeester, if they didn't have the injuries?

That's the issue to me. I can live, begrudgingly with the cap hit for two years. But I can't be happy overpaying to acquire him. |

Why not try and sign Carlo Colaiacovo? Give up no assets other than money. |

I agree just don't think your getting him without overpaying and to me Jay-Bo doesnt provide enough of an upgrade for the cost. |

I'd be fine with Colaiacovo. He'd be cheaper, and if he can stay healthy, he'll be very solid. |

How many years would you have to give him? I would not be interested in more then a 2 year deal. I'd prefer a one year deal for him. Don't know if it's possible. And then there is the injury history.

Supposedly Carolina is offering 4 years. I would be very wary of going more than two years. He's been more healthy the last few years than when he was a Leaf, but he still is missing 12-15 games a year |
