Very possible. I don't know whether or not to believe him.

I'm not saying yes or no...to me its like Eklund. He does what he does and it gets people talking about hockey which is good.

The bad is,unlike Eklund, he acts like an bumhole to people and spends as much time patting himself on the back as sharing rumors.

Understandable. I'm just looking for someone who's pretty reliable and if he can provide that then I'll start to take him seriously.

One more point I want to make. Many were against bringing back Matt Carle due to the Cap hit that he was going to command in Free Agency. They said that 5M or more was too much. Now many want to trade for Bouwmeester at 6.68M. I know that it's not being said by all the same people. But for those that thought that Carle was overpaid by TB. Bouwmeester is more drastically overpaid at his Cap hit.

Once again I agree. I just stated that Bouwmeester would get destroyed here at that cap hit.

Carle as 5.5M is looking better and better every day!

I still think the best thing for the Flyers is a lockout until December. This helps not only for the guys that are out, but it would also help Kimmo. That can only help the blue line.

Not sure how much this really changes things, did he really factor that much into ho the Flyers did this year?

It doesn't matter though he is gone and isn't changing. No way Homer could have know the offer sheet wouldn't work and Suter would say no then all the injuries.

A little something on Taylor Leier, wing, Portland Winterhawks (Flyers 4th round pick this year)

MJL, I understand your view on jbo and I think you are likely correct. But there is one question that I'd like to hear your thoughts on. In the event that homer doesn't agree with you and does feel desperate now, in August and wants to get jbo with his massive cap hit, do you think that he can do better in our system as opposed to Calgary ? Do your think it could have an appreciable difference in his play and value??

Don't like the length of Carle's deal though.

If Carle's deal was 3 or 4 years I'd be cool with it

Yes, I do think it's possible that Bouwmeester does well here. And like I said previously. He is a good player that would make the Flyers a better team. However I don't think his improved play, or the resulting upgrade to the Flyers defense, would match the Cap hit.

You'd like but he's said that before and it happened, that will be a ton of money to tie up when he's still struggling with finding his way without it.

I doubt any of them, they are close to that luxury tax & don't seem to eager to have to pay it.

Personally I'd expect a patch work team for a few years.

Naa they are like the Yankees of the national league they have to keep their rep up to fill the seats and they are up for a new tv contract and they plan to have their own tv station just like the yanks. Believe me they will be signing a big name guy

$$$$ shouldn't be a problem for the Phillies. They need a young superstar to build around.

I just disagree they have something like $132 million for only 9 guys they that's 16 spots to fill for less then $46 million.

But way too early to care.

Well, what's the most you think he's worth? If you presume he'll play closer to his initial expectations 5.5? 6???

Maybe you pay a (salary NOT trade) premium if you look at the horizon and don't see anything comparable on the horizon (either at the TDL or next summer). My biggest fear is that we give up too many assets to acquire him. I would be more ok if Calgary traded him as more of a salary dump. That to me is the critical worry.
