The Phil's pockets are deep they will go over the luxury tax especially if they have their own network they will be making so much money
- griouxmvp2012

If I recall they've said they'd like to avoid it if they could & since they can why spend money to fill 1 hole when they have too many to fill.

Na I give him two years in the system. I know it was preseason and all but it was his first nfl game he looked so comfortable back there and if he wins the backup job you know he's gonna see pt this year

They can still have it. They still have a decent till if they can all be healthy but look at when the won it was with mostly home grown talent and added pieces and not major pieces to win it all.

Since they've added a ton of major pieces while gutting the farm system to get no place. All the decent youth they have is basically in AA or below which is likely to mean see you in 3 to 5 years at the earliest.

Just my thought they'll have to piece it together as best they can, they can't afford to add a 5th player with an AAV of $20 plus million to the roster when they have holes at center, left, 3rd, back end of the rotation, & bullpen.

what;s the deal with this franzen guy on the Phils, OB is he for real or just having a nice stretch of games? Sorry don't follow baseball outside of the phils and this season I barely got into them.

My biggest thing with him is his footwork it was a mess in college and it won't change overnight even if it's against 3rd string players who likely won't make the NFL.

He'll need more then just a cannon for an arm to make it.

Not sure, he is 30 so I'd guess he's a stop gap for them at the moment.

damn didn't even realize his age. I've been checking in on them the past couple days and seems like the guy is always getting a hit or making a nice play in the field. Saw him make a nice diving catch the other day and got thinking. Oh well they sure could use stop gaps at this point too at several spots.

Too early to get any read on what they'll do but it does seem they'll have their hands tied.

After watching three game tapes of Arizona QB Nick Foles, NFL Films guru Greg Cosell observed an inability to drive intermediate and sideline passes and slow arm speed.
Cosell only saw Foles make NFL-caliber throws "once in a while," and considers Foles a "major projection" based on the limited skill set he showed in Arizona's one-read, shotgun-heavy offense. Foles was once a popular pick to claim the draft's third quarterback spot, but he lacks coordinated footwork and possesses an elongated release that limits his velocity. We expect Foles to come off the board in the late fourth or fifth round.

I just want to see them get competitive again, this losing season stuff with old players has me worried. In contrast to the flyers I think with the blueline getting mowed down like grass I can deal with a losing season or two since they have the forward corps entrenched for the next 10 years.

About them, what do you think, they need one maybe two puck moving types and they'd be alright, no?

oh yea and either the Flyers or the Phils gotta get rid of JJ. Sorry Jackson, but I can't deal with you all year round. Can't believe this guy has replaced two legends in the same town. what a doozie Least when the phils were bad I could just listen to Harry, cause that man could call a (frank)ing baseball game.

I don't they want a team to take on all $97 million and give back top prospects back, good luck with that & he can only be moved to 8 teams so that narrow the market even more.

I think we will be ok on the backend as long as timmonen doesn't start the season on the shelf which is a possibility if the season starts on time

He was told he had a 1 strike policy when he signed, this does not come as a shock.

Phillies will go over the Luxury tax in 2013 for the right player(s) as long as they're under in 2014. They did not want to go over two years in a row. Stiffer penalties.

Frandsen has hit over .300 the last 2 years in AAA but with no power at all. His glove has been a pleasant surprise so far. i'd love to see him and Katz keep ig going and make a run for the 25 man squad next year.
