It seems to be stuck on a loop of first period highlights.
Is it in between periods at this moment? - Marc D
Yes it is waiting for the 3rd to begin. |

Imo i don't see a trade happening without the flyers overpaying. Every gm in the league knows about their injuries on the d front already. Why would they cut homer a deal? Its their job to get the best possible deal for their team. I dont see how homer can trade for someone without giving up a forward and/or picks. That being said I've bren weong before and if homer wants to make a trade, i have faith he won't get worked over.
Personally I'd rather see him sign cc for cheap. Sure he's injury prone, but who isnt on this d. It won't rush the kids and would give an extra vet on the blueline.
Just my two cents. And i fully expect several of you to disagree - fecondo
I agree.
Sorry if I disappointed you. |

Part of the NHLPA proposal is the ability to trade cap space. Jesus, that would make things a lot of fun |

I really like the players proposal. It was far more of a proposal designed to get an agreement done, then the Owners one sided offer that went for the jugular. The player are willing to go into partnership with the Owners, specifically of the richer teams, to help solve the financial problems of the League. I think the players come off looking much better then the League did in their initial salvo.

Donald Fehr is a blessing in my mind for the players. |

I'm for whatever gets a deal done. No reason hockey should be in a lockout. |

From what I have read about it, it's really fair and addresses a lot of the NHL's stated concerns. |

That may create an interesting debate amongst the haves and the have nots of the league. |

There would need to be a lower limit still so that teams couldn't just trade off their cap space until they could afford a team. Also, I would think you could only trade cap space for a certain amount of years in the future. Wow, what an interesting idea. It kinda like cap and trade for a carbon tax. |

I imagine it would work like trading cash in an old trade, but for dollars on the current season's cap. It could benefit the so called 'have nots', who could trade away otherwise useless cap space for value. |

Also heard teams could go over the salary cap and pay a luxury tax. |

I still question how committed big market clubs are really interested in helping small market clubs with revenue sharing. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. Also, I can't believe the players would give back percentage of revenue and at least not get some kind of concession from the owners' on the current free agency structure and/or rookie scale. It is going to be an interesting couple of weeks of negotiations because I do think both sides have some urgency to get the season started on time. Just my opinion. |

Part of NHLPA proposal allows teams to buy/sell draft picks and cap space from other #NHL clubs. How much would a 1st overall pick be worth?

Yeah, mayhem in the making!
But it would be nice to pay a tax rather than have to get rid of a player you want on your team. |

One thing I don't understand from the players' side is UFA can't be reached until the player is 27 years old currently. Shouldn't a more equal system be based upon accured seasons at the NHL level. Why should Coots who was good enough to make the NHL at 19, have to wait 8 years for potentially UFA status. While Matt Read only has to wait 3 years. Just seems unfair, obviously splitting revenue is the big piece to be negotiated right now by both sides. |
