There was likely some homerism to his pick ,but seriously there isn't too many to pick with that last slot. Maybe Jerome Gauthier-Leduc. I mean there isn't really anybody else

I'm slightly suprised not to see goalies. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought the q had a few decent goalies.

First off he wasn't a stand out. He scored a nice goal and killed some penalties. What he showed was that he doesn't have great speed. The fact that he didn't progress much this year should send off a few alarms.

Yes....nice to see the Habs have 4 guys on the list created by one of the biggest Hab homers on this site.

Did you actually watch the series? I'm curious, because he was certainly one of Canada's biggest surprises. I'm not the only one that thinks so:

even Coach Spott said Montreal got a steal in Hudon. I'm not saying he's a surefire NHLer, because he's not even close. He does have a ton of potential and can certainly be considered a boom-bust prospect.

Listen, I would probably have Gauthier-Leduc ahead of him, but Hudon actually did impress after the draft 3 months ago.

I listened to it on the TSN1050 and when they mentioned his name it was never in a negative light. That being said I never got to see him actually play.

Yes I watched the series. He was probably better than expected but they weren't expecting much. He scored a goal but showed that he isn't that fast.

He also killed penalties....well....tried to anyway.

If a midget drafted in the 5th round only 3 months ago is in the top ten then this must be a REALLY weak league.
- stormey

no matter how good players are, if they're viewed as undersized, it's almost always gonna affect thier draft position.

marc savard led the OHL in scoring 2 or 3 years in a row, and was still taken 91st overall, based almost 100% on the fact that he was undersized

desharnais scored 100+ pts 3 years in a row, and went undrafted

marty st louis - undrafted
fleury - 166th
gionta - 82nd
etc

all small players, who enjoyed TREMENDOUS success before being drafted, yet still got drafted VERY late, or not at all.

no matter how good they are, small players will always get picked after big palyers, even if they're more talented.

Habs had him pretty high on their list apparently. Time will tell if they were right.

With them picking 3rd, it would have been rediculous to draft him that high. From what I heard he was ranked around 7th.

For every Fleury there are 10 Dan Hodgsons and Glen Goodalls.
Fleury, St. Louis and Gionta were better skaters than this kid is.

I have a feeling that Max Domi will be a 1st rounder, and a fairly high one at that. Even though he is short 5'-10" might not be as short as the other guys listed but is still short.

I think Teravainen was the youngest player selected in the first round, Yakupov is almost a year older than him (a matter of a few days I think). At this young age, that may mean a lot development wise.

He also was for the most part the best player on his team too. It's not like he's had one good tournament and otherwise was living in obscurity.

Youngest in the entire draft

Scary thing about next year is that both MacKinnon and Barkov who are already better than the rest of the bunch are both born within 4 days of being in the 2014 draft.

Yet went in the 5th round....and was the 11th player picked out of the Q this year.

Yet somehow QP has him ranked ahead of the other 10.

I don't care where he was ranked at the start of the year. 30 GM's and scouting staffs passed on him in favor of over a hundred other prospects....3 months ago....at then end of the season.

Desharnais had to play in the ECHL!! Even St.Louis never had to scratch and claw his way up and prove himself to the plethoria of doubters and naysayer

One day soon Desharnais will be putting up 100 point seasons no problem!

And Hudon will easily be a 40 goal scorer!! So maybe he played on the checking line and couldn't skate, but did you see him dangle that one time and make that saucer pass not many midgets can make a saucer pass like that!

Haters go to hate! Richards going to be Richarding!
