If a midget drafted in the 5th round only 3 months ago is in the top ten then this must be a REALLY weak league.

He's got a Toews kind of feel to him

Is he a natural center? or is he more utilized as a LW. It would be great to see him used as a Center in the NHL as hard as that can be.

As ignorant as it is to say, I was sad to see Florida draft him because I won't get to see him play too much, except maybe on the highlight reels. Florida hopefully will get increased revenue from him as they have a possible franchise player... if they don't trade him.

He can play center a bit, but I'd say he's likely a winger in the NHL. He never really got face-offs down and because of his chemistry with Phillips they just shoved him to the wing and let him roll.

Just curious because throughout pretty much this entire season scouts had the top 3 D in the league listed as Gormley, Beaulieu, Ellis but you have Ellis 4th and Ouellet 3rd.

Just curious as to your reasoning behind this?

Second why not Grigorenko?

I believe these are the top canadian (not clear just with the title but the image is CHL) prospects from the Q. Grigorenko was already listed in the top Russian prospects.

Read the opening two paragraphs.

As for Xavier ahead of Ellis, he played on a piss poor team and was dominant, while Ellis never had that kind of dynamism. Especially when Gormley came and essentially stole all his minutes and made him look insignificant.

Beaulieu will have to improve his upper body strenght as he will have trouble in physical battles in front of the net and along the boards against men. He should be playing with the Hamilton Bulldogs this year, but he could be a possible call-up for the Habs.

Plus, he needs to be more agressive in front of the net...that's mainly his weakness, he isn't willing to go in the traffic, and try to clean up. I see a good season or two in the AHL for him.

To be fair, at the beginning of the 2011-2012 season he was seen as a first round pick, he just didn't progress as much as was expected. He was a standout at this years Canada - Russia Challenge as the youngest drafted player on team Canada. He's still very boom-bust prospect but he has a ton of potential.

That much should be clear when you think of all the quality european players in the Q. Guys like Grigs, Jurco and Zlobin would probably be on the list if it included all players.

Still, nice to see the Habs have 4 guys on the list.

Ouch.....someone woke up on th wrong side of the bed.

Didn't read that part of Grigorenko.

And no offense but if you think the arrival of Gormley made Ellis look insignificant then you obviously did not watch these kids much. Not saying Ellis is a better player but insignificant is fallacy.

Gormley is obviously a much better player and control the ice surface in both the offensive and defensive zone's but Ellis was an absolute beast.

Ellis played against oppositions best on a nightly basis and still took control of things all over the ice. When the playoffs came around he actually improved his play and according to most was the best player on the ice in most games.

This is why most scout and analyst had him as the 3rd best D-man in the Q this year, not Ouellet.

Personally I want to see what he can do without a stacked to the roof team. Still a very good prospect, but he'll need to prove himself as you say in the A.

Soooo......back to Hudon.

What the (frank) has he done in the last couple of months to have him rated ahead of the other 10 kids drafted from the Q ahead of him this year.

I mean other than be drafted by the Habs.

What does QP know that 30 GM's and all there scouting staff know?

He's a slow midget with good hands. Big deal.

It's not an annoyed comment, it's the fact that my friend wrote this (season ticket holder now for the Sherbrooke Phoenix) and that this is strictly Canadian born prospects in the Q, hence the lack of Grigs, Jurco, Galiev and such.

I'm just giving an approximation of why he put Ouellet ahead of Ellis.

First off he wasn't a stand out. He scored a nice goal and killed some penalties. What he showed was that he doesn't have great speed. The fact that he didn't progress much this year should send off a few alarms.

It's hard to look fast when Morgan Reilly is on the ice.

There was likely some homerism to his pick ,but seriously there isn't too many to pick with that last slot. Maybe Jerome Gauthier-Leduc. I mean there isn't really anybody else
