bottom line is this:
it should be 50.50 - end of story. The owners are the biggest hypocrites.
Bettman should be fired - 3 lockouts in 22 years is disgraceful. Hockey in markets that aren't selling tickets equals poor business. I get that he tried it - it was a gamble, but its failed miserably. If I take a HUGE chance on something with my job, and I strike out - chances are I will pay for that mistake - he hasn't. PHX, CLB, FLA, TB, DAL etc etc are all huge leaches on teams that actually make money. Who's to blame for that - not the players...
Owners sign the players to these contracts, then don't wanna pay them...asking for rollbacks - what a joke. The days leading up to lockout, the owners spend 100mil - but they're broke LOL.
Even after they negotiate this deal, I'd be shocked if there wasn't another lockout in 6 years. Everytime Bettman just says LOCKOUT when things don't go his way. If he cared about the game, it wouldn't happen this way. The game is going to take a HUGE hit for every game missed in the US markets.

Screw them both!
Players need a pay cut and have no business demanding 57% of revenues. Owners may be getting richer but that does not mean it goes to greedy players.
Salary reductions and a promise to reduce ticket prices would be best for hockey in general. Most of these players make more money in one year than many skilled workers made in a lifetime, so the players can all go to hell in my opinion and yes I love the game as much as anyone but this millionaires vs billionaires is not hockey! |
