Tim Kerr didn't make anybody's team?
Is this based on them playing today with the speed of the game? Obviously you have alot of great players to choose from but Kerr will always be remembered by me for killing us. |

Kerr did start as a center (and take a lot of faceoffs even afterwards) but most of his Flyers career was spent on the wing. He'll be in the winger pool. |

This is work AS A FLYER. Not as an Av. - bodiva88
It actually doesn't say that. It was just the criteria that Bill used when he made his selection. He didn't oppress us with it but merely suggested it.
I certainly think it's the best way to go. |

Oh my bad Bill, I didn't read carefully enough and didn't realize this was only centers. |

Bill, one person suggested that each player would be centering a specific line (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th). Is that what you had in mind?
If so, I am amending my prior lineup and rolling out:
1st line - Lindros
2nd line - Giroux
3rd line - Clarke
4th line - Brindy
I figured Lindros on the first line because in today's modern game he could still forecheck, create space, pass, and score. And also destroy people.
Giroux on the second line is a no brainer for me.
Clarke on the third line because in a modern game I think this is where he belongs. What an annoying guy to place against.
Brindy - can win you the faceoffs and play D. I feel his hands of stone would be less of an issue here.
I could really flip a coin between Brindy and Richards - both winners of cups for the wrong teams. They are really close IMO. |

No worries. We are pretty laid back here on this thread.

The longer that I think about it the more I think Brind'Amour was the wrong choice. Rick MacLeish has to be on there.
Clarke
MacLeish
Lindros then Polin |

Just xurious if the impossible might happen. With the news that pronger's diognosis is poor and that Timonen may not return, could the flyers be looking for d help? The Pens could use some better offensive prospects. Flyers some D prospects? could the two teams make a deal? |

As far as Timonen not returning, are you referring to after this Season? I think it's safe to say that the Flyers are definitely looking for D help. |

Highly doubtful. I can count the trades in division in the last 10 years on one hand. Most of those were with the last place Islanders. |

Now your really showing your age. Poulin was a very strong Captain. But Clarke captained and led his team to 2 Stanley Cups. - MJL
I just wanted to foster a debate lol, I have never seen either of them play (minus the alumni game) so I figured id go with the less obvious choice |

There's absolutely zero question about the captaincy. It's Bobby Clarke's. Hands down, not even a debate. - Jsaquella

As a player, in every aspect, Bobby Clarke is a Hall of Famer. Poulin while a very good player and a strong Captain, is not a Hall of Famer. |

The possibility is there, but it's probably not likely. The last time the Flyers made an in-division trade was in the summer of 2010, when they flipped Dan Hamhuis' rights to the Pens.
The last player for player trade between the Flyers and another Atlantic division team was December of 2006. The Flyers traded Randy Robitaille & a pick to the Islanders for Mike York. Four days prior to that the same two teams swapped defensemen Alexei Zhitnik & Freddy Meyer.
The last significant "name" trade between the Flyers & another Atlantic team was in 2001. Eric Lindros was traded to the Rangers for Jan Hlavac, Pavel Brendl, Kim Johnsson and a 3rd rounder.
The last non-rights trade(i.e. player for player or picks) between the Flyers & Pens was Kevin Stevens to Pittsburgh for John Slaney, in January of 2001.
The last trade between the Flyers and Devils? Flyers traded a 3rd rounder for goalie Glenn "Chico" Resch on March 11th, 1986. |

I'll say it a little differently, other than the obvious players (letang, crosby, malkin, neal) that the Pens aren't trading, they have a bunch of crap that we don't want. |

Most people when looking at players think just in terms of offense and not the rest of the game, such as 2 way play, leadership, and intangibles. Not that Giroux doesn't have some of those qualities, because he certainly does. - MJL
Not sure how leadership and heart translate to an elctronic sports simulation.
Based on best season by each as a flyer i'd have to go with clarke(119pts), lindros(115), macleish(100), and brindamour(97). |

Didn't we flip Manderville to the Pens for the ex con after that or was that before? That may have even been the same season. |

My choices weren't made in terms of an electronic sports simulation. |

They have quite a few young defensemen I'd have interest in. Simon Despres, Derrick Pouliot, Joe Morrow & Beau Bennett are all solid prospects, not to mention Olli Maatta.
I also wouldn't mind a guy like Matt Niskanen, either. |

Yep...That was in 2002...I somehow skimmed past that one. One year and 2 months after the Slaney/Stevens deal, they traded Manderville for Tibbetts. |
