I was going to comment to this effect. Top 10 is just crazy. Saying Top 5 is even too much of a stretch. Really, the worst you can say is Top 3.

Now, when Crosby's career is over (assuming the concussions don't Lindros him) we could well be talking about him as a Top 5 or Top 10 player, but it will be in the context of all time.

Yes, they don't get paid but a year of the contract does get taken off. All of the players in the last year of their contracts would become UFA's, furthermore no club can negotiate a new contract with their players until a new CBA is in place.
