If Gary and Don don't have a deal done in a week or so, and it looks like we're headed for the abyss, I would propose the following:

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

2 players, 2 agents, 2 owners, 2 GMs in room to settle remaining issues. 1 lawyer/side to document agreement that would be done in day or 2.

Not bad. Get a small market owner and big market owner.

The Windsor vs Kitchener game might be delayed.

The Spits should be here by 6. The officials? That's another story. There's a crew coming from Toronto & they're stuck westbound. #OHL

Excellent points Bill, the whole thing is sickening to say the least, watching the other major sports leagues go through their labor issues for only short periods, and ultimately coming to their collective senses & getting on with their respective business's shouts volumes about what we're experiencing with this "joke" of a professional league.

Mediation was just what it was, a waste of time & a farce!

and now the league proposes players to go face to face with Jacobs in negotiations?

unreal, like a damn reality show.

Bill,

First things first. Love the blog man. I've been reading it every day for as long as I can remember. Great insight, analysis and approach to covering the Flyers and everything hockey. As a Flyers fan you've personally made me more educated and interested in the team. Take this season for example, your blogs are perfect for fans like myself to get a condensed, comprehensive coverage of stats, inside information and game-by-game analysis. Thanks man.

But enough of me pumping your tires. Did you watch SportsNet Hockey Central today? (I'm Canadian, not sure if you guys get it down there). But I'm pretty sure Nick Kypreos "borrowed" your blog today on live tv. He mentioned how putting the NHL players in a room with the owners without representation to have a discussion was insane considering how these owners are professional, extremely successful businessman in their own right and players are very much inexperienced in business and negotiation. Now that opinion by itself isn't enough to say he "borrowed" your argument, but he went on to suggest that the NHL Players play a "winner take all game of shinny" because having the players meet with the owners on matters of business is comparable to the NHL players having a game of hockey against the owners.

Anyways, I think he took it. What are the chances Nick ( a buffoon ) comes up with the identical perspective you took today on the same subject? Ha.. I'd take it as a complement.

Keep Writing! Go Flyers! (this lockout is killing me slowly, but I'll be back. They could cancel 20 seasons and I'd be back)

Wow.... tough choice. Both were crucial, incredible shifts. I'll add into the equation Eric Lindros dragging along a desperate Mark Messier (who was basically draped over his back) to go in and a score a game-sealing ENG in the 1997 Eastern Conference Final.

Great read as always Bill. Thanks!
Frustration is the only emotion I am having on this fiasco at this point.

Not to show my age or anything but another famous shift I remember was actually Clarkie's last shift ever. It was the end of the playoffs the season he retired and I am pretty sure it as against the Caps. I just remember thinking, " he is possessed out there ", even though I don't think they had a chance to come back in the round he was all over the ice. Little did we know ( he probably did ) at the time it was his last game.
