Bill, don't be ridiculous--Bryz can never have a great game.
Season is lost, IMO. Such a shame.
So, I want to pose this question instead?
Contextually, what's better--Mike Richards' shift in Game 5 of the 2010 ECF, or Claude Giroux's shift in Game 6 of the 2012 ECQF.
And go.... |

"That sounds about as even and realistic as Donald Fehr proposing that the lockout be settled with a winner-takes-all players vs. owner's hockey game."
But I'd pay to see this. Even with your proxies.

Wow.... tough choice. Both were crucial, incredible shifts. I'll add into the equation Eric Lindros dragging along a desperate Mark Messier (who was basically draped over his back) to go in and a score a game-sealing ENG in the 1997 Eastern Conference Final. |

If I may....
Shutting down Cindy was huge on his first shift and scoring that nasty goal ---- G for sure |

When will they decide to shut down the season? I don't see an agreement coming anytime soon. This is embarrassing to the sport of hockey! |

I was at the game vs Montreal and Ritchie was on a mission that shift. Tough choice because I like G better, but I have to go with Richards.

My vote goes to Richie:
On his shift he set up a scoring chance, came back and made an important defensive play and then scored a big goal. On a bigger stage than the 1st round of the playoffs.
Not to take away from Giroux's big hit and nice goal, but Richie just did more when the stakes were higher.

It's a tough call. For the most part, most Flyers fans think 2010 was a successful year. So many memories from that playoff run. If you look at it contextually, I'm thinking Richards shift gets beaten here. Yes, this was an elimination game, yes, it was shorthanded and the Flyers were losing--but this was Game 5, and it was against a Montreal Canadiens team that couldn't put up with the Flyers physically. At the time of Richards' goal, many people simply assumed the Flyers would tie the game up and eventually win, and if they didn't--they'll get it done in Game 6.
This past season's version of "The Shift" definitely seems to be better than Richards' because of the context. Smoking the Pens in Game 3, and then pooping a game out in Game 4, the Flyers suddenly found themselves in a series after Fleury closed the door on them in Game 5. Suddenly, Flyers fans, including myself, got a little concerned that we might be seeing some 2010 magic again--just not in our favor. All that was pretty much washed away by Giroux's shift. I mean thirty seconds in, thirty seconds! If the hit was on anyone other than Crosby, I'd say it wouldn't be as big of a deal. But after watching Crosby and Richards butt heads for a few seasons without any fireworks, and then Crosby's antics in Game 3, it was a perfect scenario.
I'm picking Giroux's shift because of the context.

I was just discussing this the other day, and I think it's Richards' shift, hands down. Richards took over the ice for over a minute, had TWO big hits and scored one of the most insane goals I've ever seen. And it was Shorthanded?! No question...
Although, it is pretty cool to think about the fact that Giroux asked to be put out on the first shift and was telling people to watch him, he certainly backed up those words. |

Good to hear anything positive regarding Bryz...

Giroux will be, or is the franchise leader of this team. But to me that 2010 shift is what sums up Mike Richards as a player IMO.. Gotta go with Richie |

I wish they could skip all the "lets try this" or "let's try that" distractions. They know what each other wants and if neither side wants to cave then just cancel the season. I'm tired of hearing what steps they are taking next when everyone knows already what it takes to get this done. |

I just read it I don't care anymore, they come back whenever they realize they've hurt themselves almost if not beyond the point of what momentum they had gained from the last 8 years.
I'll just watch this tonight.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
If Gary and Don don't have a deal done in a week or so, and it looks like we're headed for the abyss, I would propose the following:
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
2 players, 2 agents, 2 owners, 2 GMs in room to settle remaining issues. 1 lawyer/side to document agreement that would be done in day or 2. |
