A friend of mine had twins. For a while, he was resigned to getting a minivan, as that was the only thing that could cart all his kids around. He figured out the Acadia Denali had three rows, and could handle all the kids, and convinced his wife on it. It's funny how he went from so depressed to so happy so quickly.

Truth is, I love my minvan. And not just for the usual kid reasons.

You sit high on the road. Great visibility (whenever I borrow a car, I am always blown away by how much harder it is to see things when you are sitting so much lower).

Great for throwing your hockey gear in the back and driving off. Great for hauling stuff from Home Depot or a furniture store.

And the margins were razor-thin; they were so unsexy, companies had to give them away.

Sadly, they are dying out. Ford and GM don't even make them anymore, and Chrysler will stop putting them out after next year or so.

He also tweeted that players never signed contracts guarenteeing them the full $ amount as it is tied to revenues.

If you want to go the Bob McKenzie route, he basically said the players don't deserve their contract if the revenue split goes to 50%. That the makewhole is something the owners are giving to the players as a concession.

- l3ig_l2ecl

Players salaries were subject to escrow under the old CBA to guarantee that the split would be accurate. They could get less or they could get more, as they did one Season.

Here is the Tweet that McKenzie made 55 days ago.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: 50 per cent of that is $1.7325B. Players salaries committed for this season expected (by both sides) to be about $1.95B, give or take $25M.

Please provide a link or a tweet where McKenzie state that the players don't deserve their contract if the revenue split goes to 50%. Or that Make Whole is a something the Owners are giving to the players as a concession.

NHLPA supporters logic "the owners created the problems so they don't need to be fixed"

Makes perfect sense

- SpoiledByOil

Highly inaccurate. This NHLPA supporter agrees they need to be fixed. But disagrees with how the NHL is going about it.

You’re not the first I’ve heard say that. When I was younger, a friend of mine was a sales guy for Molson. He swore by his minivan. They gave him the option of a different car, and he always chose minivan. He could pile so much swag, and various stuff in the back, cart people around, and if he got a little too wasted visiting a client, he’d just sleep in the back.

Ok but you go explain that revenues will be capped to Rogers and Bell who just spent $1.3 B for their share of MLSE
- Canada Cup

No, no, no - revenues that go into the calculation of the salary cap get limited. Instead of Toronto counting at $200 million, they count instead at something like $125 million. (My idea is to cap the top-10 teams at about 105% of the revenues of the #11 team.)

I must say - and this is not a shot at MJL and his camp, as both sides are just as guilty - I think we've taken this thing as far as we can.

It's just repeated blather at this point.

Although I'm still pushing for MJL to be a little more accurate with his business definitions...

I have an MDX and it's similar to a mini-van, but also has the suv and car feel to it. Drives great, has awd and has all the pros you stated about your mini van.

Briefcasesniffers logic (sorry Aetherial, that's all I got) Coyotes are losing money, let's cut the Leafs payroll.
- Canada Cup

I think I had a better term, but damn if I can remember. I would like to say owner's lackeys... but that seems too uncreative. I'll have to try to remember it.

I drive a V6 Rav4. I love the utility and, at the time I bought it, it was embarassing the 3-series BMW's off the line (not on a track of course). Last winter, the Toyota guy told me it was still the fastest car Toyota made. I believe it was around 6.6 or something 0-60 ... pretty fun for a small SUV.

It may actually be the best vehicle I have ever driven. My Altima is loaded, but gutless, and the CVT sucks all the passion out of the car and it about as loud as a plane taking off
