What does that have to do with anything? What were the losses during that same period? - bloatedmosquito
Companies lose money. Companies that lose money in industries that are growing have bigger problems. Maybe their payrolls shouldn't be determined by the companies that are making money. |

Players need to make a living, owners don't buy hockey teams to make Money every year, if they did they are morons.

Company E should (frank)ing move to Quebec City or Markham and shouldn't be forced to pay same salary as Company A because of a stupid CBA that all the companies argued for. - Canada Cup
The workers for company E should be happy that they're all millionaires even though the company is losing money... The union should be grateful that membership has increased due to companies like E. The union should realize that there are bigger problems than just E. The union should also realize that they cannot gain benefits from the industry's successes, and be immune from their failures. |

Exactly, that's what the pro-PA supporters always seem to leave out. Players don't share in the profit losses. Their money is guaranteed, they have no worries or responsibility in how good or poorly their respective franchise does at the end of the year. But hey, let's keep focusing on percentages and statistics that don't mean squat at the end of the day because that's for the owners to worry about. |

I agree 100%
The players would not be able to make a living under the NHL's latest proposal.
And yes, it should be perfectly fine for the owners to lose money. The NHL isn't a business. It's a charity. |

Holy poop. Terrible argument.
Isn't that exactly what unions do? They look at the industry standard and apply that to their negotiation regardless of the health of the business they are negotiating with. |

Players need to make a living, owners don't buy hockey teams to make Money every year, if they did they are morons. - Scooby_Doo
Here we go again... According to Scooby here, the players need reassurance that they can continue to piss away tens of millions of dollars over a career so that they can maintain their millionaire life style long after their careers as players are over with.
I mean yeah, pro sports players should be entitled to millions of dollars a year for playing a game and shouldn't be expected to be financially responsible because they're millionaire athletes who should be worshiped and held as the high standard of society. Therefore give them as much money as they want! And besides, if you are forced to live in Manhattan, you should automatically be entitled to an extra few million a year to adjust for the cost of living and inflation rates there. Makes sense to me. Hey they have a lifestyle to maintain guys! Duh! That should be a given in any CBA. |

No that's what the owners did in the last CBA. Unions can negotiate for it. The owner mandated it. |
